-
- * GIF decoding speed has been improved by up to 10%.
-
- * Dialog windows are centered on the display (except the
- GIF Conversion window).
-

- * Turbo View II available in developmental versions.
-
- =======
- Turbo View 1.05: July 14, 1990

- * Fixed some RLE and clipboard error conditions and messages.
- * Tweaked the 8 x 8 ordered dither routine.
- * On-line help and unlocking information.
- * Application version available to registered users.
-
- =======
- Turbo View 1.03: June 1989
-
- Fixed a bug with some SCSI drives. Never officially released.
-
- =======
- 1.02 Notes: March 1, 1989
-
- The following bugs have been fixed in Turbo View 1.02: (The more "*"'s, the more
- serious the bug.)
-
- 1 It was *very* likely that the Selection Tool would cause a system error.
- Especially on the Mac II/IIx. (*****)
-
- 2 When Turbo View opened its window for the first time, the window would
- occasionally "hide" up above the menu bar. [This hasn't really been fixed, but
- appears to be caused by using ResEdit on TV while it is open...]
-
- 3 Some bad RLE files would cause Turbo View to hang, waiting for the end of
- the picture. (****)
-
- 4 Saving Mac II StartupScreens now works. Before it just produced garbage
- pictures. (Nobody reported that this didn't work?? What's wrong, you don't
- like B&W startup screens??) (**?)
-
- 5 A serious bug was found in the GIF setup sequence which would cause system
- errors all the time for some people, while never causing any problems for others
- (including myself and my beta testers). [For you techies, TV would write a 32
- bit longint to memory location 1,024,000 - which could be prime real estate
- depending on what's there at that instant!] (*****)
-
- --------------
- Other changes:
-
- * The area obscured when Turbo View is locked has been removed. It now only
- prints the message "Turbo View 1.02".
-
- * The "Nuke It" button in the save changes dialog has been changed to
- "Continue". Changed because it offended a customer and possibly you and other
- potential customers.
-
- * The "window dance" has been removed when zooming Turbo's window, whether or
- not MultiFinder is running. The dance was also removed when sizing Turbo's
- window to its smallest width. ("Window dancing" is when the right-hand side of
- the window moves back- and-forth immediately after the window is sized.) [Note
- that the window can still do the hop, but it won't dance!]
-
- * When Turbo View is opened, it no longer sizes the window to your screen size.
- Instead, it uses the same default position.
-
- * The speed of the following GIF rendering methods have been improved a little:
- Threshold, 8 x 8 ordered dither, and Burkes.
-
- * ALL FEATURES are now available to everyone!!! Even when Turbo View is locked
- you can now save the picture or copy it to the clipboard. There is a catch,
- however. The message "Turbo View 1.02" is drawn in the center of the picture
- when it is saved or copied. This gives you plenty of leeway in testing the
- various aspects of Turbo View. I'm also sticking my neck out a little further
- on the chopping block, so please register if you use Turbo View.
-
- * The registration form has been jazzed up a little with graphics and a better
- appearance (in my opinion). This is a test, so let me know what you think of
- it. Also, PLEASE do NOT print the registration form in DRAFT mode on the
- Imagewriter or other dot matrix printers (if at all possible), because it does
- not turn out that great! But if you have a spare sheet of paper and nothing
- else to do, give it a try! It's pure entertainment for the entire family!
-
- * The "BitMap" size in the Memory Stats dialog is available at all times now. It
- is calculated from the current image dimensions and since it is an
- approximation, a squiggly equal sign "≈" appears in front of it. (Accurate to
- within 1K)

- 1.01 Notes: October 28, 1988
-
- As Turbo View was released the weekend of 10/22/88, reports of problems came
- in concerning the use of DAfx and Suitcase II (which was released just prior to
- this). Suitcase II caused DAfx to present an "incompatible" message when opened
- and refused to operate. Since Turbo View uses the same (flawed) routine as
- DAfx, it too was rendered useless. But Turbo View's symptoms are that file type
- buttons in the Open and Save dialogs would not work. Version (1.01) fixes the
- problem. (DAfx 1.32 is also being released to fix its problem).
- Also new with this version of Turbo View is the area obscured after opening
- pictures when it is locked. The area obscured is now smaller and overlaid with
- a version message. (Pictures are not obscured when Turbo is unlocked.)
